Me too, WXB single-handedly influenced my musical taste afterall they were the station that dared to be different. Playing Minor Threat alongside Del Fuegos, from Velvet Underground to Under Two Flags. After they're demise in the mid-80s, 2 rock stations rose from the ashes, the other one bit the bust in the 90s while the other one soldiered on. But that "one" somewhat copied commercial radio format as well, and the DJ's became very talkative on air and they don't even talk about music, just some random s#@t. So I said, screw that, I'm not gonna listen to that shit anymore. Haven't listen to the radio ever since. How I envy you that you have college/student radio in your town.

I bought "The Clock Comes Down The Stairs" years back on cassette from a sale bin because of the single "Birthday Girl". Commercial radio didn't touch it though. Only Student radio played it in my city. In my town they also played stuff like Dead Kennedys, Violent Femmes, Echo and The Bunnymen, Naked Raygun, flying nun records stuff etc.... It pretty much set up my tastes for life.
